What is the difference between original device vs. new device collection when trying to send a sample to the laboratory?
When an instant test result is non-negative, collectors have two options for sending samples to the lab:
Send the original testing device.
Collect a new sample with a different collection device.
Generally, instant urine testing kits will have the original device sent because they are designed for lab use and providing another urine sample immediately would be problematic.
For saliva tests, the collector would generally collect a new sample because most saliva testing kits aren’t designed for laboratory use and collecting another sample immediately is not usually problematic.
